Sydney
the far end of everything
The far end of everything. Long sectors, a harbour approach people fly a whole career to see, and a duty day that starts in the dark.
THE POSTING
Sydney is the other outstation and the longest reach on the board. It is the posting you buy at the end of a career rather than the start of one, and the flying is nothing like the coast you learned on.
A harbour approach people fly a whole career to see, and a duty day that starts in the dark.
TRANSFER ONLY · MAJOR HUB
THE FIELD
Three runways on flat ground beside Botany Bay, with the harbour and the city to the north. The approaches are among the most photographed in the world for a reason, and the runway configuration changes with the wind and with the noise-sharing arrangement rather than purely with the weather.
The operational fact that shapes everything is the curfew. The field closes overnight, which means a late departure at the other end does not simply arrive late — it may not arrive at all. Nothing else on the network punishes a slipped schedule this hard.
THE FLYING
Long-haul, widebody, low frequency. The longest sectors and the longest duty days available, with the schedule built around a window you cannot miss.
Very few pilots reach this base, and the ones who do have paid more to sit here than most of the roster has earned.
WHERE IT TAKES YOU — 24 DESTINATIONS
IN THE CABIN
Twelve hours changes what a cabin is. Everything has time to happen, and everything that happens has time to get worse before you are anywhere near a suitable field.
The curfew turns delay into a genuine operational decision rather than an inconvenience, and the diversion that follows a missed window is the sort of thing the airline remembers for a long time.
FLYING IT FOR REAL
Extremely well covered by default and by third parties alike. The harbour is the draw and most platforms render it well without help.
Nothing here is required. Every sector out of this base flies on default scenery, on any simulator the Companion App supports.
